The quake epicenter was 184 km (114 miles) NE of TOKYO, Japan at a depth of 27 miles. Massive flooding is also occurring in Fukushima and Nigata provinces as a result of torrential rains hitting the area. Approximately 200,000 people have been forced to take shelter with 3,000 homes suffering flood conditions. Over 24 inches of rain has fallen in Fukushima prefecture alone in the last 72 hours.

A 6.2 magnitude earthquake has struck off the cost of Honshu Japan at 2:51 PM (EDT) approximately 49 miles from Sendai, Honshu, Japan and 59 miles from Fukushima, Honshu, Japan. This is the second major earthquake to hit the region in the last 24 hours with a 6.4 earthquake striking yesterday, July 23rd.
