A 3.9 magnitude quake greeted California this morning 7km (4mi) NNW of San Fernando, California at 15:24:23 UTC time. This was followed later by a 2.5 tremor 8km (5mi) ESE of Santa Clarita, California an hour later.
A 7.7 magnitude quake followed by a multitude of aftershocks struck just off the Canadian coast yesterday and continues into today. A tsunami alert was issued for Hawaii but had only minor waves, so was not a problem. The latest quake to hit was registered as a 5.1 magnitude tremor.
